Aransas County, Texas is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 22497. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 24900, It is 100th most populous county in Texas. The county extends throughout a territory of 527.95 square miles (1367.38 kmē ), of which, 251.86 square miles (652.31 kmē) of it is land and 276.09 square miles (715.07 kmē) of it is water, it is the 15th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Texas. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Texas.

The population density was 89.3 people per square mile (34.48/kmē), making it the 46th most densely populated county in Texas. There were 12848 housing units at an average density of 51 per square mile (19.69/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.9. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 23.8% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 19.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.5 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 24900, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 93.63% White, 1.82% Black or African American, 0.65% American Indian, 2.54% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.3% from two or more races.
