Appomattox County, Virginia is a county located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Appomattox County is home to 13705 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 14501, making it Virginia's 37th smallest county. The county spans an area of 334.73 sq mi (866.95 square kilometre), of which, 333.69 square miles (864.25 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.05 square miles (2.72 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Virginia's 62nd largest county by total area.

For every 100 females there were 94.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.1 males. Its population was estimated at 14501 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 11219 White, 3106 Black or African American, 21 American Indian, 29 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 123 from two or more races.
