According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Appomattox County is home to 13705 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 14501, making it Virginia's 37th smallest county. The county spans an area of 334.73 sq mi (866.95 square kilometre), of which, 333.69 square miles (864.25 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.05 square miles (2.72 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Virginia's 62nd largest county by total area.
