Appalachia Town is a United States town located in the Wise County, Virginia, United States. It is home to over 1839 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1739, making it Virginia's 190th largest. The town spans an area of 2.31 square miles (5.98 square kilometre), makes it the 221st largest by total area in Virginia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1839 people, 790 households, and 515 families living in the town. The population density was 797.3 people per square mile (307.84/kmē), it is the 221st most densely populated town in the U.S. state of Virginia. There were 891 housing units at an average density of 385.7 per square mile (148.92/kmē). The average household size was 2.33 people, and the average family size was 2.95 people. In the town the population was distributed as follows: 25.3% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 26% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 86.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.5 males.
