Anniston City is a city located in Calhoun County, Alabama, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 24276. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 23662, making it Alabama's 19th largest. It is spread over 45.46 mi˛ (117.74 sq km), of which, 45.43 square miles (117.66 sq km ) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 14th largest by total area among Alabama.

As of the census of 2000, there were 24276 people in the city, organized into 10447 households, and 6416 families residing in the city. The population density was 534.4 people per square mile (206.33/km˛), it is 127th most densely populated city in Alabama.
