Anderson County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Anderson County is home to 71330 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 74169, It is the 17th most populous county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The county extends throughout a territory of 344.82 mi˛ (893.08 square kilometre ), of which, 337.51 square miles (874.15 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.31 square miles (18.93 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Tennessee's 30th smallest county by total area.

In the Anderson County, 23.2% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.5% were 18 to 24, 27.3% were 25 to 44, 25.5% were 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.4 males.
