Amador County is a one of the county from California's 58 counties, located in Western Region (Pacific) of United States. The county has a population of 35100 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 38238 in July 2008, It is 13th least populous county in California. The county comprises an area of 604.69 mi˛ (1566.14 sq km), of which, 592.97 square miles (1535.79 sq km) of it is land and 11.73 square miles (30.38 sq km) of it is water, giving it the second smallest by total area among California's county.

The population density was 59.2 people per square mile (22.86/km˛), it is the 35th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of California.
