Alvin City is a city located in Brazoria County, Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 21413 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 22853, It is the 114th largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 17.34 mi˛ (44.91 square kilometre), of which, 16.43 square miles (42.55 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.91 square miles (2.36 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 140th largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.

The median age is 30.7 years, The median age of males was 29.6 years, for females the median age was 31.9 years. The racial makeup of the city was 82.28% White, 2.11% Black or African American, 0.49% American Indian, 0.79% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, 3.4% from two or more races and 10.88% Other races.
