Altoona Town, Alabama is a town of the Etowah and Blount counties, Alabama, United States. The population of the town was 984 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 965, giving it the 284th largest population among Alabama. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.81 sq mi (9.87 sq km), of which, 3.8 square miles (9.84 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, it is the 286th largest by area in the U.S. state of Alabama.

As of the census of 2000, there were 984 residents, 397 households, and 272 families in the town. The population density was 258.7 people per square mile (99.88/kmē), it is the 284th most densely populated town in the U.S. state of Alabama.
