Alpine Borough is a one of the Bergen County, New Jersey, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 2183. The borough's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2480, making it the 103rd least populous in New Jersey. It is spread over 9.17 mi˛ (23.75 sq km), of which, 6.36 square miles (16.47 sq km ) of it is land and 2.82 square miles (7.3 sq km) of it is water, making it the 44th largest by size in New Jersey. It is ranks 11 in the size of its inland waterways in New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2183 people in the borough, organized into 457 households, and 284 families living in the borough. The population density was 343.5 people per square mile (132.63/km˛), giving it the 16th least densely populated borough among the New Jersey. There were 730 housing units at an average density of 114.8 per square mile (44.32/km˛). It has an average household size was 3.08 persons, and the average family size was 3.24 persons. In the borough the population was spread out, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 20.9% from 25 to 44, 34.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 97.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.5 females. The median age of the borough's population was 44.2 years, The median age of males was 43.6 years, for females the median age was 45 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 77.37% White, 1.51% Black or African American, 0.23% American Indian, 19.1% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, 1.42% from two or more races and 0.32% Other races.
