Allentown Borough, New Jersey


Allentown Borough is a United States borough located in the Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of 2000 the population was 1882. The borough's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1845, making it the 84th least populous in New Jersey. The borough extends throughout a territory of 0.62 sq mi (1.61 sq km ), of which, 0.61 square miles (1.58 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, making it New Jersey's 33rd smallest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1882 people in the borough, organized into 457 households, and 284 families residing in the borough. The population density was 3097.1 people per square mile (1195.8/kmē), giving it the 232nd most densely populated borough among the New Jersey. There were 718 housing units at an average density of 1177 per square mile (454.44/kmē). The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.13. In the borough Age distribution was 26.7% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 89.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males. The median age is 38.5 years, the median age of male residents at 39 and the median age of female residents at 38.1. The racial makeup of the borough was 90.65% White, 6.43% Black or African American, 0.58% American Indian, 0.64% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 1.12% from two or more races and 0.58% Other races.
