Allendale County is a county located in the United States of South Carolina. Allendale County had an official population of 11211 in 2000. Its population was estimated at 10447 in July 2008, It is second least populous county in South Carolina. The county extends throughout a territory of 412.58 sq mi (1068.58 kmē ), of which, 408.2 square miles (1057.23 kmē) of it is land and 4.38 square miles (11.34 kmē) of it is water, it is the seventh smallest by area in the U.S. state of South Carolina.

The population density was 27.5 people per square mile (10.62/kmē), making its South Carolina's least densely populated county. There were 4568 housing units at an average density of 11.2 per square mile (4.32/kmē). The average household size was 2.56 persons, and the average family size was 3.21 persons. In the county Age distribution was 26.6% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 92.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 93.1 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 10447, The racial makeup of the county was 28.42% White, 70.71% Black or African American, 0.13% American Indian, 0.18% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 0.49% from two or more races.
