The county extends throughout a territory of 406.88 mi˛ (1053.81 square kilometre ), of which, 404.43 square miles (1047.47 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.46 square miles (6.37 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the seventh smallest by total area among Ohio's county.

For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98 males.
