Allen County is a county located in Kansas, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 14385. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 13319, It is the 35th largest in terms of population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 505.18 mi˛ (1308.41 square kilometre), of which, 503.01 square miles (1302.79 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.18 square miles (5.65 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the eighth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas.

The population density was 28.6 people per square mile (11.04/km˛), giving it the 30th most densely populated county among the Kansas. There were 6449 housing units at an average density of 12.8 per square mile (4.94/km˛). The average household size was 2.43 people, and the average family size was 2.98 people. Age range in the county was well distributed with 25.2% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 18% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 13319, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 94.93% White, 1.99% Black or African American, 1.01% American Indian, 0.32% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.76% from two or more races.
