Allegheny County is a county located in Pennsylvania, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Allegheny County is home to 1281666 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 1215103, giving it the second largest population among Pennsylvania's county. The county extends throughout a territory of 744.71 square miles (1928.79 kmē ), of which, 730.17 square miles (1891.13 kmē) of it is land and 14.54 square miles (37.66 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 30th largest by total area among Pennsylvania's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1281666 people in the county, organized into 537150 households, and 332237 families living in the county. The population density was 1755.3 people per square mile (677.73/kmē), giving it the third most densely populated county among the Pennsylvania. There were 583646 housing units at an average density of 799.3 per square mile (308.61/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.31 persons, and the average family size was 2.96 persons. In the county Age distribution was 21.9% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1215103, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 82.79% White, 13.2% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 2.45% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.25% from two or more races.

In 2000, 322016 pupils and students, of which 161934 are male and 160082 are female, 25.12% of the total population, are in the education system. Of which, total enrollment of student are in, 22242 nursery or pri school, 14713 kindergarten, 131978 elementary school, 66024 high school and 87059 College graduate school.
