Allegan County, Michigan is a county located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 105665 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 112975, giving it the 18th largest population among Michigan's county. Its area is just over 1833.3 mi˛ (4748.23 square kilometre), of which, 827.46 square miles (2143.11 square kilometre) of it is land and 1005.83 square miles (2605.09 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 14th largest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 105665 people in the county, organized into 38165 households, and 28405 families living in the county. The population density was 127.7 people per square mile (49.31/km˛), making its Michigan's 25th most densely populated county. There were 43292 housing units at an average density of 52.3 per square mile (20.19/km˛). The average household size was 2.72 people, and the average family size was 3.15 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 28.9% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 30% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.6 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 112975, The racial makeup of the county was 108591 White, 1656 Black or African American, 626 American Indian, 823 Asian, 37 Native Hawaiian, and 1242 from two or more races.
