Allamakee County is a United States county located in the United States of Iowa. In 2000, county's population was 14675 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 14538, It is the 56th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 658.71 square miles (1706.05 square kilometre), of which, 639.56 square miles (1656.45 square kilometre) of it is land and 19.14 square miles (49.57 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 18th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Iowa.
