Algona City is a city located in the Kossuth County, Iowa, United States. Algona City had an official population of 5741 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 5328, It is Iowa's 62nd largest by population . The city encompasses an area of 4.5 square miles (11.65 sq km ), of which, 4.49 square miles (11.63 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 78th largest by total area among Iowa.
