Alfalfa County is a county located in Oklahoma, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The county has a population of 6105 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 5637, giving it the ninth smallest population among Oklahoma's county. Its area is just over 881.44 mi˛ (2282.92 square kilometre), of which, 866.65 square miles (2244.61 square kilometre) of it is land and 14.79 square miles (38.31 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 34th largest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 7 people per square mile (2.7/km˛), making its Oklahoma's ninth least densely populated county. In the county the population was spread out, with 19.4% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 20.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 76.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 70.4 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 5637, The racial makeup of the county was 5034 White, 276 Black or African American, 183 American Indian, 10 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 131 from two or more races.
