Alcester City is a city in the Union County, South Dakota, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 880 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 892, It is South Dakota's 79th largest by population . It is spread over 0.34 mi˛ (0.88 square kilometre), it is the 102nd smallest by area in the U.S. state of South Dakota.
