Albemarle City, North Carolina is a city of the Stanly County, North Carolina, United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 15680 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 15522, It is the 49th most populous in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It has total area of 15.77 mi˛ (40.84 sq km), of which, 15.7 square miles (40.66 sq km) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 sq km) of it is water, making it North Carolina's 46th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 15680 residents, 6291 households, and 4157 families in the city. The population density was 999 people per square mile (385.72/km˛), it would be the 203rd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of North Carolina.
