Alakanuk City is a city located in the Wade Hampton Census Area, Alaska, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 652 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 711, It is 84th most populous in Alaska. It covers total area of 41.02 square miles (106.24 sq km), of which, 32.35 square miles (83.79 sq km) of it is land and 8.67 square miles (22.46 sq km) of it is water, making it the 131st largest by size in Alaska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 652 people, 139 households, and 118 families residing in the city. The population density was 20.2 people per square mile (7.8/kmē), it is Alaska's 157th most densely populated city. There were 160 housing units at an average density of 4.9 per square mile (1.89/kmē). It has an average household size was 4.69 persons, and the average family size was 5.19 persons.
