Adrian City is one of the city of Bates County, Missouri, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. Adrian City had an official population of 1780 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 1899, making it Missouri's 268th largest. The city extends throughout a territory of 1.94 mi˛ (5.02 square kilometre ), of which, 1.87 square miles (4.84 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 266th largest by area in the U.S. state of Missouri.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1780 people, 682 households, and 470 families living in the city. The population density was 953.6 people per square mile (368.19/km˛), it is the 443rd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Missouri. There were 734 housing units at an average density of 392.5 per square mile (151.55/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 3.07 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.6% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who were 65 or older. The median age of the city's population was 37.1 years, the median age of male residents at 33.1 and the median age of female residents at 39.4. The racial makeup of the city was 1756 White, Black or African American, 7 American Indian, 3 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 11 from two or more races and 2 Ohter races.
