Addison County is a county in the United States of Vermont. As of 2000 the population was 35974. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 36617, It is seventh most populous county in Vermont. It is spread over 808.3 sq mi (2093.49 kmē), of which, 770.18 square miles (1994.76 kmē ) of it is land and 38.12 square miles (98.73 kmē) of it is water, giving it the third largest by total area among Vermont's county. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Vermont.

As of the census of 2000, there were 35974 residents, 13068 households, and 9105 families in the county. The population density was 46.7 people per square mile (18.03/kmē), making its Vermont's tenth most densely populated county. There were 15312 housing units at an average density of 19.9 per square mile (7.68/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.55 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 12.5% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.9 females. Its population was estimated at 36617 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 96.99% White, 0.66% Black or African American, 0.28% American Indian, 0.79% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 1.25% from two or more races.
