Adams County is a county in the United States of Ohio. In 2000, the population was 27330. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 28213, It is the tenth smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Ohio. It has total area of 585.79 sq mi (1517.19 kmē), of which, 583.91 square miles (1512.32 kmē) of it is land and 1.88 square miles (4.87 kmē) of it is water, making it Ohio's 15th largest county by total area.

The population's age distribution was 26.4% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.8 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 28213, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 27440 White, 181 Black or African American, 203 American Indian, 36 Asian, 9 Native Hawaiian, and 344 from two or more races.
