According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 3499, It is the fourth smallest in terms of population. The county spans an area of 1370 miē (3548.28 kmē), of which, 1364.58 square miles (3534.25 kmē) of it is land and 5.43 square miles (14.06 kmē) of it is water, making it Idaho's 22nd largest county by total area.
