Adair County is a United States county located in the United States of Iowa. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 8243 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 7506 in July 2008, giving it the ninth smallest population among Iowa's county. Its area is just over 570.31 square miles (1477.1 square kilometre), of which, 569.3 square miles (1474.48 square kilometre) of it is land and 1 square miles (2.59 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Iowa's 56th largest county by total area.
