In the county the population was spread out, with 24.3% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111.1 females. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 38180, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 26460 White, 11040 Black or African American, 151 American Indian, 147 Asian, 45 Native Hawaiian, and 337 from two or more races.

Of which, percentage of enrollment student are in, 6.64% nursery or pri school, 4.54% kindergarten, 53.8% elementary school, 24.72% high school and 10.29% College graduate school.
