It is the 203rd largest by population in the U.S. state of Maryland. The census designated place comprises an area of 11.98 sq mi (31.03 square kilometre), of which, 11.37 square miles (29.45 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.61 square miles (1.58 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 43rd largest by area in the U.S. state of Maryland.
